IBS Consulting Peter Ginty and Dr Leslie Gadman have
joined the IBS to lecture in Strategic Management
and establish its Consultancy operations. Both Peter and Sean have excellent track records in consulting
for blue
chip firms in the UK and US. Further details about IBS Consulting
will be announced soon.
Compliance Institute CPD Events to be held at the
IBS in the near future are on the topics of 'Preparing
for a Supervisory Visit' (fully booked) sponsored by KYCOS, and 'Directors' Disqualifications Past, Present
and

JMU Vice Chancellor Professor Michael Brown will
be making his first visit to the IBS on Thursday 2
October. His itinerary will include meetings with IBS staff, students, directors and governors.
PhD Graduation Congratulations to Dr Donglin Pei
who completed his PhD recently. IBS Accounting Lecturer
Dr Pei chose the subject of the Chinese Stock Market
for his PhD, focusing on 'The Information Content of Qualified
Audit Reports on Chinese Stock Market'. By employing the most popularized
Event Study Methodology, the research investigates the listed firms'
share price movements around the announcements of qualified auditing
reports on two Chinese A-share markets, Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges.

Top Marks for IBS Students who are continuing to
achieve excellent results
at the end of the International Business School's second academic
year.
Year one students on the full-time BA (Hons) Business Studies degree
programme have achieved an average of 62% across the ten subject
modules
studied over the year - and second year students have achieved
61%. This
puts most IBS students well on track to achieving a prestigious
upper
second or first class degree result.
STEP / Student Services Thanks to Stephanie Cannell,
who has been developing IBS Student Services on her STEP workplacement
project
which
was co-ordinated by the DTI. Stephanie who is from the Island returns
to
Hull University as a third year student in September.
