Top Marks for IBS Students
Once again IBS students are
proving that they gain a definite advantage by
studying with the IBS which
helps them to achieve outstanding results. The second
semester results come at the end of IBS’s third
academic year and reinforces the high quality of
the teaching at the Isle of Man’s own Higher
Education institution.
Two part-time students on Business Studies course
scored very high marks in the individual modules
which are also taken by students at Liverpool John
Moores University. Valerie Hamm, a Year Two student,
scored the top overall mark in the Consumer Behaviour
module while Aleyn Kewley, a Year One student, gained
the second highest mark in the Macroeconomics module,
missing the top mark by only 2%.
Of the full-time first-year students, Ian Manton
came in the top 8 of the cohort studying the Business
Information Systems module. Excellent results were
also achieved by full-time mature students returning
to studies, Sarah Jarvis and Helen Kaneen.
IBS Director, Professor Roger Carey is delighted
with the excellent results. “These results
reflect the very hard work that stem from all the
students’ commitment and dedication to their
course. All our staff and students are working extremely
hard. With 8 first year students gaining first class
results, this sustains the momentum to build and
maintain the reputation of a Higher Education institution
of which the Isle of Man can be proud.”
Of the second year students, excellent results were
achieved by very many students, including top overall
marks by Clare Kelly and Leonard Gerber.
IBS students on Masters programmes
are also continuing to perform to a high standard.
The first cohort of
part-time MBA students which started in January
2003 will complete the taught part of their course
at
the end of this year and then begin their dissertations
in January 2005.
