Management Games at the IBS
New and
returning students on the International Business
School's BA (Hons) Business Studies
degree programme were surprised to find themselves 'playing
with sticklebricks' at the end of their induction
week for the new academic year.
The management games session
was run by Peter Ginty, a new lecturer and
consultant at the IBS,
who has previously carried out the same exercise
with senior managers at Microsoft and Pfiser. Peter
explained, "The sticklebricks game actually simulates
running a business through four financial quarters
with the objective of delivering customer requirements
whilst making a profit and demonstrating all
aspects of business improvement such as quality,
service and business operations. Because it
is a 'hands on', fun exercise, it gave the students
a good team building challenge to round off their
first week."
The winning team members
were awarded with prizes at the Annual Student
Dinner held on Saturday
night.
Other programmes with new
recruits operating this year at the IBS include
the part-time MSc
in International Banking and Finance and the
MBA as well as Chartered Management Institute
qualifications at Level 4 and 5. Student lectures
commence this week although it is still possible
for late applicants to enroll until the end of
September.
