‘Homestay’ Accommodation
Required for International Student
The International Business School is currently
looking for accommodation on behalf of international
students who are due to start courses in September
2003, and also for student intakes in the future.
Ciara Goode from the International
Business School explained that as the Business
School does not
currently have any residential facilities, they
would like to help their international students
find local ‘Homestay’ accommodation.
“Our international students are looking
for ‘Homestay’ accommodation in a family
environment which will help they settle into life
on the Island and also enable them to practice
their English language skills. This includes a
furnished bedroom and use of kitchen and bathroom
facilities perhaps with breakfast and/or evening
meal also provided. Ideally this would be in the
Douglas / Onchan / Braddan area although areas
further away on bus routes would also be considered.
Our first international students
arrived in 2001, and this year we are expecting
students from countries
such as Nepal, Indonesia, and China. Safety is
an important factor for families that are considering
sending their sons and daughters abroad to study
and parents are reassured that the Isle of Man
is a friendly, welcoming country with a low crime
rate.”
