STUDENT LODGINGS & ACCOMMODATION NEEDED BY
THE INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS SCHOOL

The International Business School is currently looking for accommodation on behalf on its students who start their first academic year in September 2001.

Jo Griffin from the International Business School explained that as the Business School does not have any residential facilities, they would like to help their students find accommodation in the private sector.  The accommodation they are looking for falls into two categories which are a) shared flats/houses and b) student lodgings where students live with a family.

'Local students who have applied for the BA (Hons) Business Studies degree programme are starting to think about where they will live.  Ideally, they would like shared accommodation in the Douglas / Onchan / Braddan area.  What we can do to help them is put them in touch with each other so that they can contact letting agents as a group.  Our International students may also want to 'houseshare' although most will be looking for 'student lodgings' i.e. a safe, family environment which will help them settle into life on the Island and also enable them to practice their English language skills.  Student lodging requirements include a furnished bedroom and use of kitchen and bathroom facilities perhaps with breakfast and/or evening meal also provided.'

International students are likely to come from other offshore jurisdictions, as well as countries in the Far East, where the programmes offered by the International Business School have been attracting a lot of interest.  Safety is an important factor for families that are considering sending their sons and daughters abroad to study and parents are reassured that the Isle of Man is a friendly, peaceful country with a relatively low crime rate.
