Chartered Institute of Marketing setting up local group

Isle of Man members of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) have been invited to a meeting to discuss the possibility of setting up a local group for people working in sales and marketing on the Island. John Hartley, Director of CIM Regions, and Bill Griffiths, Chairman of the Lancashire branch are visiting the Island on Tuesday next week to jointly host the meeting which will be held at the International Business School. Non-members are also very welcome to attend.

Jo Griffin from the International Business School said that the need for a local group was initially highlighted by local marketing practitioners. 'When we were promoting our series of CIM workshops we found that many local marketing professionals commented about the general lack of sales and marketing events and they thought it would be useful if there was a local group. When we fed this back to the CIM they were happy to help get the ball rolling. If a local group is established it could organise lectures by high profile practitioners or company visits etc. Events will provide an opportunity for professional development as well as networking, support and fun! The meeting will help to establish the benefits and aims of setting up a local group - and the type of events that could be planned.'

The lunchtime meeting will be held at 12.30pm in the XKO Boardroom at the International Business School. Anyone interested in attending can contact Jo Griffin on 693705 or email enquiries@ibs.ac.im.
